Dr Alison Pass
PRINCIPAL AND OWNER OF pRACTICE
Alison has owned the practice since 1996 and worked clinically until 2015. She now has a managerial role and oversees the general business and ethos of the practice having the confidence that it is in extremely capable hands However it has now become time to move on and in January 2024 the practice will hopefully move to new owners and Alison will retire to France where she is currently runninning a successful small hotel /chambres d’hotes Chateau St Victor la Coste
Dr Andrew Buddle

Andrew qualified BDS with distinction from the University of Sheffield in 1990. He joined Alnwick Dental Practice in 1997 and has worked here for the past 22 years. Alongside his clinical practice, Andrew has worked as an Associate Clinical Lecturer at Newcastle University teaching clinical and practical skills to dental undergraduates. He has several years experience examining international dentists sitting the Overseas Registration Examination in London. Finally , he is an Education Associate for the General Dental Council responsible for assuring the quality of teaching in UK Dental Schools.
Away from dentistry, Andrew is a keen musician; he plays tuba in Alnwick Playhouse Concert Band , Alnwick Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Westfield Brass Quintet.
In December 2023 however Andrew has decided to retire from clinical dentistry and focus on other pursuits making way for new dentist Matt Shilling who will be joining the practice from November 2023 for a smooth transition.
After 26 years of service at Alnwick Dental Practice, Andrew has decided to leave clinical practice and his last day will be Thursday 14th December 2023
He will continue teaching at the Dental Hospital and performing his regulatory roles. Colleague Dr Matthew Shilling will be joining the practice in November 2023 with a view to looking after Andrews patients from December . The Alnwick Dental Practice would like to invite Andrews patients to drop in at the practice on Saturday 2nd December 2023 from 2-4pm so that he can have a chance to say goodbye and introduce Matt to them in person. Dr Helen Dugan

Helen joined the practice in 2013 qualifying from Newcastle University 1997 Bds and MFGDP IN 2008. She is an experienced dentist and she particularly enjoys helping and treating those with anxiety and dental phobias. She is passionate about individual patient care.
She is married with a young family and enjoys outdoor activities with them.
Dr Alexander Flint

Alex joined the practice in April 2020 having grown up in Nottinghamshire but holidayed as a child in Northumberland and loving the outdoors life ! He moved north with his fiancee and two cats, Apple and Naana having previously lead a couple of large practices in both Sunderland and Middlesborough He is an enthusiastic and highly qualified dentist attending both the Royal College of Surgeons both England and Edinburgh and having studied in Italy and LA bringing new skills to the practice such as implants and invisalign orthodontics. He is extremely friendly and believes in delivering high quality dental care to all with expertise and a smile.
out of work he enjoys cooking,playing football and tennis , travelling and relaxing at home .
Dr Matthew Shilling
Matthew will be joining the practice from November 2023 with a view to taking over the ownership with partner Dr Alexander Flint and his wife Melissa.
Matt graduated from Newcastle University in 2013, moving to the North East from Yorkshire, and has been working in the North East for 10 years with 8 of those being at the same practice in County Durham. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow and has trained newly qualified dentists for the past five years, a role he relished. During his career he has enjoyed delivering excellent care to all his patients as well as helping anxious and nervous patients. He is very excited to be joining the Alnwick Dental family.
Outside of dentistry he loves spending time with his young family and they are excited to be welcoming another little one in December. He has enjoyed travelling particularly Europe and South East Asia. He loves board games, playing football and sports in general as well as keeping up with current affairs.
Ruth Cooper Dental Hygienist

Ruth has worked in both NHS and private practice as well as at Newcastle Dental Hospital for number of years as a staff Dental Hygienist working on the very busy Periodontal Department and as part of the multidisciplinary Head and Neck cancer team, she was also part of the teaching staff in the school of Dental Hygiene.
As a Dental Hygienist in Alnwick Dental Practice Ruth will treat periodontal disease. (Gum disease) and give invaluable advice on dental care and oral hygiene which is so importance to maintain a healthy mouth, she will screen for oral cancer and can also give advice on whitening teeth and carry this out with a prescription from one of our dentists.
Ruth is a local girl, she grew up in Alnwick and both her father and grandfather were dentists in the town,( she is following family tradition!) she is now living back in Alnwick with her family and likes nothing better than spending valuable time with her family and friends and going for long walks with her dog Coco, a very energetic cocker spaniel.
Our team are a happy group of lovely individuals who always have a smile and are prepared to go the extra mile for each other and for you.
